Shani is a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives and a Licensed Midwife with the state of Texas. Shani has been a part of the birth & parenting community since 2014, that was the year she attended her first home birth and was instantly in love. Early on, she felt the Lord calling her to midwifery as she was serving families as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. After a rigorous apprenticeship, Shani became a Licensed Midwife in early 2021. Since becoming licensed, she has grown as a midwife while serving in both high-volume, diverse birth center settings as well as in the intimate home birth space. In the midst of her career as a midwife, she has experienced her own unplanned cesarean and a victorious and healing homebirth after cesarean which only further fanned the flame of empathy and desire for mothers to be empowered and supported throughout their pregnancy and birthing journeys. She is married to her husband Russell, who is a musician and educator, and is privileged to be called mama by two of the sweetest little boys.
