Connie is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with a Masters degree in nursing. She knows that each birth is unique and miraculous and is privileged to walk along the path of new parenthood with each of her clients whether this is the first or tenth baby. She centers on empowering women to have the best possible outcomes with their prenatal care, birth and postpartum period. Her specialty and passion is encouraging women to have their desires achieved for their birth and breastfeeding experience. It has been her pleasure to work with moms and babies for over 35 years. Each birth has a special place in her heart and is a sacred event.
Background and Education:
Connie received her BSN and RN in 1981 from Houston Baptist University and was in Phi Beta Kappa, a nursing honor society.
In 1984, as an RN, she exclusively began working with mothers and babies in a hospital setting in Austin Texas. She worked in the nursery, NICU and postpartum couple care. She moved with her family to Norway in 1994 when her children were young. Upon returning to Katy Texas she worked in a local hospital nursery, NICU and doing mother baby education.
She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2002 helping moms and babies with breastfeeding.
2003 she left the hospital setting and began her path towards midwifery. She began to see moms for private lactation support, she was certified as a Doula and a midwife’s assistant to Cathy Rude CPM in the home birth setting.
2010 she received her Masters of Science in Nursing and graduated with Honors from the University of Cincinnati. She has a professional membership currently in ACNM, Central Texas CNM, Association of Texas Midwives, Greater Houston Midwives Alliance, Houston Area Lactation Consultants and Educators, and International Lactation Consultants Association.
Connie is a co-owner of the Katy Birth Center and has done home and birth center births there since 2011. She has been married to Dag for over 40 years and has 3 children and multiple grandchildren. She loves to travel, exercise, spend family time and is a Christ follower.
